ROLES:

JARL HAKON - MALE 40-65. Broad-shouldered and commanding, the village leader is wise, formidable, and mysterious. He’ll clasp your hand in welcome—even as his other hand never strays far from his blade.

THE SEER - Female, 50–70. Every myth needs a witch, and this tale is no different. An old, hunched figure with a mystical presence — her eyes have witnessed evils no human should ever endure.

THORIL - Female, 10-14. Fair skinned, blue-eyed — Rolf’s youngest daughter. When her sister vanishes, the chaos begins to strip away her innocence.

KARI - Female, 14–21, to play early teens. Fair-skinned, blue-eyed, Rolf’s oldest daughter. Lively, fun-loving, and deeply trusting — instantly likable. When she disappears, it leaves a hole in the heart of the village.

SILLA - Female, 14–21, to play early teens. Fair-skinned. Jarl Hakon’s daughter and Kari’s closest friend. When Kari vanishes, she’s forced to question who she can truly trust.

ARNE - Male, 35–60. Skinny, sly, and envious. Having never earned the glory of a warrior, he masks his resentment with mischief. To Rolf, he plays the role of a friend — but betrayal is never far behind.

GUNNI - MALE, 35–60. With his round belly and ever-present drunkard’s smile, he plays the fool, cracking jokes at every turn. But beneath the humor, his intentions drift into darker waters.

VILI - Male, 35–60. Jarl Hakon’s right-hand man. A warrior at heart, his loyalty is second to none. Think Ned Stark from Game of Thrones.

IVAR THE BERSERKER – Male, 35–55. Jarl Hakon’s disgraced brother, cast into the wild for crimes too dark to forgive. Towering and brutal at over 6’4, he embodies menace itself — and when Kari vanishes, all eyes turn to him.

IRONJAW – Male, 20–40. Barbaric and brutal, forged from the cold and cruelty that shaped his people. Leader of the Iron Bjorn. Physically imposing; fight experience a major plus.

BEGGAR – Male, 40–90. A blind, meager soul whose body is frail and whose mind is fractured. Tormented by inexpressible pain, he mutters in riddles, trapped between fantasy, hel, and reality.

NORN – Male/Female, 20–50. To be performed on stilts. Please note experience on stilts. A spectral presence: thin, gaunt, ghostly. The Norns stalk our hero, their otherworldly gaze ever-present as the mystery unfolds.

SILLA’S MOTHER – Female, 30–50. Once the Jarl’s mistress, now a faded shadow in the village. Though overlooked by others, her fierce concern for her daughter drives her every choice.

MIKEL – Male, 10–21, to play a young child. Open to/Preference for actors with special needs. Mikel is a key witness to Kari’s disappearance.

MARE – Female, 10–21, to play a young child. An eerie, childlike figure who haunts the protagonist across their journey. Preference for performers with background in experimental movement.

MIKEL’S MOTHER – Female, 30–50. A single mother who has spent her life protecting her child — and won’t stop now, even as the village pressures him for answers.

IRON BJORN – Male, 30–50. A savage figure of the wild. Scarred and battle-worn, with jagged teeth and eyes that burn with rage. He is both lean and intimidating, hardened by life off the land.

DISTRESSED FATHER – Male, 30–60. Desperate to find his missing daughter, he becomes the canary in the coal mine, signaling the darkness on the horizon.

BARD – Male, 18–50. The village storyteller, a smooth jester who keeps myths alive. Thin, quick-witted, and living off the cunning of his tales.
